The Volunteer Inn, a charming community pub in Chipping Campden, Cotswolds

The Volunteer Inn, a ‘local inn’ in Chipping Campden, is at the heart of the community and like all pubs around the country, 2020 was not easy for them having to close for the majority of the year.

They pride themselves in having a ‘hub of the community’ vibe and their friendly local staff are the ‘lifeblood’ of their business.

The Volunteer Inn is a 17th-century pub with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, offering unpretentious value for money accommodation, from £35 per person on a bed and breakfast basis within a peaceful location in Chipping Campden.

They serve a fabulous selection of Indian and English dishes, available in the Maharaja Restaurant and real ale in the bar. The Inn is only a few hundred yards from the town centre, with the Cotswold way at its doorstep.

Their story:

Previously The Volunteer Inn used social media just to keep people updated about their special offers. During the various lockdowns the team realised that customers missed them as much as they missed serving so started posting regular updates, stories, behind the scenes to keep locals connected.

There have been live prize draws working with other local businesses on facebook, regular updates of the refurbishment of the restaurant to keep customers posted on the upgrade they can expect as well as lots of funny tiktok videos from the staff poking a bit of fun at themselves.

Luckily the restaurant was able to do home delivery and click and collect throughout the end of 2020 into 2021 and the locals have not been disappointed with the tasty food generating salivating reviews.

We know that the staff is the life blood of The Volunteer Inn and the reason people come so we try to involve them on social media as much as possible.
