Staylets a serviced accommodation provider from Cheltenham

Staylets is a serviced accommodation provider based in Cheltenham and Surrey. Oliver Williams Property Director for Staylets has been running the business since 2019.

Oliver says “If you're tired of scruffy "budget" accommodation, dusty B&Bs, or the rules and restrictions that come with often characterless hotels, then look no further than Staylets”

Staylets specialises in serviced apartments and they are currently looking for more properties to expand as the business is doing really well.

Staylets has had a very busy year this year which is good position to be in after the pandemic. Their market has begun to expand further afield in the UK and they are on the hunt for new build apartment blocks or pieces of land in the right area. They also are looking at taking existing properties and converting into studios with some larger apartments as they have done already. A third option is looking at leased spaces or buildings within mixed use or commercial developments.

Their story:

Oliver says “Overall we have come out of the pandemic positively, one could argue whether we are in a more positive position because of the pandemic but at least we have come out just as good”.

Timing was on their side, all the ground work was done in 2019 to get the properties built and refurbished and developing the brand, building an operating platform setting up social media and marketing platforms.

Oliver adds “we managed to keep the properties open and operating during the lockdowns, our business model is unmanned properties, all communications are done online or phone. People have self access, self check in etc so worked around all of the restrictions”.

”We left long gaps between bookings etc, ozone machines, extra sanitary and safety measures but were able to continue with new customers and some medium to long term residents had to be looked after as they had nowhere else to go”

Cheltenham has achieved the budget they had before the pandemic, and going into April this year both Cheltenham and Surrey have been flooded with bookings and both are busier than they were before the pandemic.

They work with online travel agents such as Air BNB etc to promote themselves however now they have over 50% of their business coming direct and with regular clients because they know they can deal directly with Oliver. He liaises and negotiates rates with regular travellers so its all a personal service and people like dealing with a smaller company.
