2n6 Sweets- a tasty independent sweet shop hospitality in Tenterden, Kent
2n6 Sweets is an independent pick n mix style sweet shop in Tenterden, Kent run by Sarah James and her husband.
They only had around 4 months of trading before the first lock down and they have done a huge amount of growing and pivoting their business over 2020 to be even more tasty upon reopening 12th of April 2021.
Tenterden's own unique sweet boutique runs in store Sweet Parties, Pick n mix selections from quality British sweets to retro blasts from the past.. They have vegan and vegetarian as well as sugar free options.
“We cater for both children and adults, birthday parties, hen do's, baby showers, special events. Let us know what you would like and we can tailor your event just for you” says Sarah.
Their story:
“My daughter got a cake made of sweets around 15 years ago, I tried to make it at home and I also worked in a school and I realised there was just nothing like the good old fashioned sweet shops in the area we lived” says Sarah.
She and her husband had an idea to see if they could find a shop and build their own sweet shop with a space for kids parties. That morning she found the right premises, bought it and turned it into 2n6 opening November 2019 in time for Tenterden’s Christmas Market.
“I have No background in retail at all, no retail experience. Learning on the job but i absolutely love what I do” Sarah says.
The business did well over Christmas 2019, lots of local support from businesses and customers alike and sadly they had to close down before their first Easter. Having ordered a lot of Easter stock The James’ decided they had to make sure the kids of Tenterden could still enjoy the sweet treats over Easter but purchase through social media.
Sarah made 6 different products, posted on social media and started selling and essentially that is how she has kept 2n6 afloat throughout the last year. By creating new and fun products and posting videos, stories, gifs etc on social media she has delighted the kids of Tenterden and is very much ready to reopen.
“We gained more customers through social media than if we had actually stayed open because we are not on the busy high street, thank you to our followers”
