Luis Boutique is an independent clothing and shoe retailer in Brixham, South Devon. Luis Boutique is run by Edwin Butler and named after Edwin’s late husband Luis Miguel who sadly lost his fight with cancer in 2019.
As tribute to him Edwin set up Luis Boutique in June, 2020, in Lockdown one selling an ‘eclectic’ mix of clothing, shoes and other accessories. Edwin describes it as a “big mix of everything, I buy in what I enjoy and if someone wants something specific- I can even order it in for them”
Their story:
“We are a small independent retailer based in South Devon. We strive to provide you styles that have quality built in and will last through the wear and tear of your day”
“In fashion, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but quality should never be a compromise. No matter what you're looking for, we guarantee durability.” says Edwin.
Edwin sadly lost Luis, his husband, to cancer in August 2019 and was forced to retire due to circumstance and had to start from scratch.
With a background in the hair and beauty industry and having run several retail outlets, a friend suggested starting a men’s clothing business. They sat together in a local Torbay tapas bar creating a website and it took off from there.
“I have found all of my stock, everything for my shop on Google” says Edwin. “I began selling candles because they remind me of Luis, originally from Madeira, from a day out in Plymouth where he wanted us to pop into a local candle shop”
The Pandemic has gone completely against the business plan luckily he has been able to try new things throughout lockdown because he has the support of his parents who he lives with locally and when not in lockdown is opposite a bus stop therefore has a steady stream of people looking in his windows to see the delights of his shop.
