Dragonfly Jewellery Design an independent online jewellery business in Torquay.

Dragonfly Jewellery Design in Torquay features handcrafted designs, handmade jewellery and gifts.

As Louise Roberts- owner and designer is based in Torquay, her love of nature is intrinsic to her use of natural materials.

As she is also a mum she has a lovely organic children’s range as well as lots of little gifts and trinkets inspired by Torquay. “I have two little girls who help me choose the best designs to go on my website” says Louise.

She started her business in 2009 as a side hustle but gave up when she has her two children. She went back to her ‘normal job’ and when she was facing redundancy in 2016 she fully invested in making Dragonfly Jewellery a successful business.

She started selling her designs on Facebook to friends, then through Etsy and finally she has been doing great business through the handmade craft hours on twitter.

Louise also runs a second business as a Virtual Assistant and even helps some other crafters with their businesses.

Their story:

“My customers all vary depending one where they come to me from- Facebook is mainly friends and family who enjoy my children’s ranges but on Twitter I get a lot or orders from the USA from teenagers right through to people in their 80’s”

Prior to pandemic Louise was doing physical craft events but had to really focus online during the various lock downs.

“I started getting really busy towards the end of 2018/19- lots of gift buying times such as mothers day and gift buying. My Virtual Assistant business got a bit quieter during the beginning of the pandemic and my jewellery business tool off” says Louise.

She was making her usual annual revenue in only 2 months however things have become quieter now the shops have opened up again however Louise knows her Virtual Assistant business will keep her busy until those orders come flooding in again over Father’s Day and other seasonal gift buying times.
