Caffe Isola, an independent tea and coffee specialist in Newport, Isle of Wight

Stef Burgess and her family are the people behind Caffe Isola, Island Roasted Coffee and Wight Label Tea in Newport, Isle of Wight.

There are predominately 2 sides to their business, wholesale to other coffee shops and their much loved flagship coffee bar in the heart of Newport town centre.

The Burgess family are proud to employ over 20 employees from Café Assistants, Team Leaders, Coffee Engineers to a Coffee Roaster and they have weathered the storm of the pandemic through having loyal customer support and strong values.

Their story:

The business was founded by Colin Burgess, Stef’s father in law over 20 years ago and the brand Island Roasted was born in 2010 by her brother in law Dan Burgess.

“Wight Label Tea is our new addition created by Larry Burgess my husband back in 2019. With all 6 members of the family now being part of this award winning business over the coming years our plan is to grow from strength to strength and diversify in the ever changing” Stef says proudly.

Although the business has always been ‘social media savvy’, they have used their social media channels to attract new customers on their wholesale side of the business and even to  catch the attention of someone who has yet to venture into the coffee bar with an appealing post and they may then decide to visit and become regulars once the various restrictions allow.

.”Our customers vary with regulars  looking for a Latte and cake to new customers who could be looking for a new place to hold a meeting whilst enjoying a lunch or a few mums looking for a catch up and a coffee” says Stef.

During the pandemic they have done ‘made to order’ collections for specific types of coffees and teas through to tray bake cakes and educating people on the various methods this specialist goes has to match the perfect coffee or tea with the perfect customer tastes.

Their goal is to ensure that their customers are there and ready when they can reopen their cafe therefore keep connected with them daily on social media.
