Bijou Hairdressing a stylish salon in Newport the Isle of Wight
Bijou Hairdressing is a boutique-style independent hair salon run by Mandy Rawlings. Mandy opened Bijou in 2008 and has 35 years of experience as a hairstylist. They have battled recessions and three lockdowns and Mandy wants customers to know “We WILL come through this”.
Mandy runs an independent salon called Bijou Hairdressing based in Newport, Isle of Wight and she is passionate about hairdressing. After teaching at a local college she missed the hustle and bustle of the salon and the buzz of seeing customers day to day. She decided to open her own salon and almost 13 years later the salon is still going strong. One of the strengths of the salon is having a broad range of experience across her team - everything from colouring to extensions to perms.

Their story:
Mandy got the keys for Bijou in 2007 and the name came from the fact that the salon was small, cute, and ‘bijou’. It took 6 months to get ready and then suddenly the 2008 recession hit.
Mandy says that it made her resilient and has gone into the pandemic more prepared than perhaps a lot of small business owners because she knew “If we can get through that, we can rise above this.”.
The salon has a team of 6 stylists who cover all manner of services. Her customers are a mix of demographics with one thing in common - they want to look good and feel good. And that is exactly what Mandy and her team do. They focus on giving their clients an incredible experience and leave them feeling like a million dollars.
