Laced Wing Designs is an independent online freemotion sewing designer based in Cotswolds and specializes in handmade, embroidered designs such as homewares, accessories and personalised gifts.
Hayley Maull founder of Laced Wing Designs is a mum to two boys, a wife and started her business after being made redundant during the recession.
“Being a creative person, I got out an old sewing machine and the business started from there. Laced Wing Designs was technically born 2013 was just a hobby, I didn’t see it as a business until 2020, right before the pandemic.” says Hayley.
Hayley invested in a business coaching and personal development course where she learned how to build up a brand she is proud of and products that delight the homes of many across the country.

Hayley says “i was juggling young kids, everything was hectic and at the beginning of 2020 i had the choice of work for myself doing something I love or go get a job so I went for it and Laced Wing Designs has been my constant over the pandemic”
Instagram is how Hayley has grown her business so fast over the last year and her customers tend to see her designs in posts or on stories and click to purchase straight away or they simply DM her and ask if it can be personalised with a name or a different colour for example.
At the centre of Laced Wing Designs is Hayley’s need to inspire and motivate people through her posts as she believes that social media should be about connecting with people on a deeper level than just purchasing.
Every Monday Hayley does Motivational Monday posts on instagram as she knows mindset is everything for people and what is right for her may just help her customers.
“I always try to be honest and vulnerable, sharing a bit on family life,, how you work on mindset and have a successful week. I get such lovely comments and it resonates with people” says Hayley.
Hayley’s highlight of the last year is that she chose a word of the year instead of a resolution- connection. Laced Wing Designs has allowed her to build connections with a community of other sewing specialists and designers leaving her feeling she is part of a team when she works alone as well as connecting with customers across the UK she otherwise would never have had the pleasure of helping.
