Claire Austin England is an independent bridal accessories retailer based in Torbay amongst 20 other like minded craft studios.
Claire’s most popular service is a bespoke creation for brides looking for their dream, unique wedding hair accessory. “I will create something completely unique and special to them which matches colour, style of venue or includes an element that is dear to them. I can also create matching hair pins for bridesmaids as gifts” says Claire.

Claire Austin England’s customers are usually between 25 to 37 and they enjoy online shopping and especially on the lookout to support independent designers and brands found through instagram,
Having had her beautiful studio for 3 years now, Claire has had to go back to working from her bedroom seeing customers on video call. When the beautiful brides can return to her studio she gives them the full VIP treatment.
During the pandemic some of her brides have sadly had to postpone their weddings 2 or 3 times over the last year however thankfully their wedding accessory from Claire will last a lifetime.
Claire started designing 8 years ago just making winter headbands for friends whilst she was working at a West End Theatre as a stage hand. Stephen Fry was in one of the shows and Claire got to know him. He kindly tweeted about her business and her twitter followers boomed. She quickly set up her website and began selling at craft fairs as well.
“ I took a course in the British school of millinery and completely relaunched my business turning Claire Austin into a brand and created my first wedding collection 5 years ago. I handed in my notice to my full time job in January 2020 and my last day was 2 days before the first lockdown. Luckily, I got to work and my business accelerated” says Claire.
In ‘regular’ circumstances Claire has a big local clientele because her studio is beautiful and in a prime location. However lockdown has seen her instagram soar with brides coming to her from all over the country.

“I want my clients to feel special so they receive milkshakes or a lovely tea, some wedding magazines to take away, lots of treats and goodies as well as getting to experience where and how I will make and design their bespoke wedding accessory”
